Fall 2013 Emmaus Junior Varsity Team

2012 Lehigh Valley Conference Champions

The Hornets won their 15th league title in double overtime as team co-captain Ben Roda scored both to beat Pennsylvania's #2 ranked Parkland Trojans 2-1.

Bishop & Roda All-LVC; Bishop MVP

Two Emmaus players were honored prior to the LVC championship game for their selection to the 2012 All-Conference team: senior midfielders AJ Bishop and Ben Roda. Bishop was also named league MVP for the 2012 season. Senior goalkeeper Kevin Fine and Junior midfielder Charlie Jerry were named Honorable Mention. Congratulations to all four athletes.

Emmaus Boys win the 2012 Summer League Title

The Emmaus boys soccer team won the 2012 Lehigh Valley Summer Soccer league by defeating Southern Lehigh 4-1. This is the first time since 1999 that the Emmaus boys have participated in the league.

Hornets Win 2011 District XI Title!

Adam Kita scored in the first half to lead the Hornets toad 1-0 victory over Stroudsburg. The victory was the Hornets 13th District title - the most of any school in the district.

Groh & Fine named All-LVC

Two Emmaus players were honored prior to the LVC championship game for their selection to the 2011 All-Conference team. Senior midfielder Patrick Groh, and junior goalkeeper Kevin Fine. This is Groh's second time chosen to the team, while for Fine, it is his first. Congratulations to both!

Hornets Host Youth Clinic

Almost 100 boys, ages 7-14, from the local area came to Memorial Field on October 5th for a chance to work with, and learn from the current varsity & junior varsity teams.

Hornets win Third Consecutive NSCAA Academic Award

The Emmaus boys soccer team has been named as a recipient of the 2010 National Soccer Coaches Association of America Team Academic Award for the 2009/2010 academic year. This is the 3rd consecutive year they were honored for their work in the classroom. To qualify for the award, the varsity team must have a minimum grade point average of 3.25 for the entire academic year. For the season, the boys finished with a grade point average of 3.26.
This year, the NSCAA awarded just 151 boys teams with this academic distinction. Emmaus is one of two District XI high schools honored by the NSCAA for academics over the past seven years. For this year, Emmaus is one of just 12 teams honored in Pennsylvania.

Hornets Win LVC Championship!

The Emmaus boys soccer team celebrates with the 2010 Lehigh Valley Conference championship trophy after winning its fourteenth league title on Thursday night, October 21. The Hornets beat Parkland 1-0 at Whitehall High School Field. Emmaus got up early on a Steve Castellani goal. The Championship is the fifth out of the past six years for the Hornets, with Parkland winning one in 2009.

Junior Stevie Castellani hit the game winner with 7:28 left in the first half to lead Emmaus to it's 14th conference championship.

Two Hornets Named All-LVC

Two Emmaus players were honored prior to the LVC championship game for their selection to the 2010 All-Conference team. Senior midfielder Maxwell Farnsworth, and junior midfielder Patrick Groh. This is Farnsworth's second time chosen to the team, while for Groh, it is his first. Congratulations to both!

Current and past Emmaus boys soccer standouts Pat Groh (Class of 2012), Pat Doughty (2007), Andrew Schaefer (2011), Sean Roth (2009), Zach Ezrow (2011), Tommy Reilly (2007, currently playing at Muhlenberg College), Coach Kyle Grim, and Coach Pat Birns comprised the boys coaching staff at the 2010 United Soccer Schools camp hosted from July 5 through July 9 at Emmaus High School by head boys soccer coach John Cari and head girls soccer coach Rob Rooney. This year's camp drew more than 160 players.

Inaugural Alumni Game Brings Players Back

The Inaugural Emmaus Soccer Boys Alumni game brought together Hornet players from various graduating classes to play each other. The game raised money for a scholarship developed by the Class of 1989. Players from the class of 1971 up to the class of 2013 showed up to play in the game.

The Class of 1989 Gives Back

The Inaugural Emmaus Alumni Game celebrated the accomplishments of the 1988 team. 11 players form this senior class came back and started against the 2009 team. The 1988 team were the first Hornet team to win a conference and district title in the same season going 22-2-1. They were also the first Hornet team to win a PIAA game. The class developed the game and a scholarship to go along side of it.. The inaugural game raised over $3000 to go to a deserving senior soccer player.

The Emmaus boys soccer team has been named as a recipient of the 2009 National Soccer Coaches Association of America Team Academic Award for the 2008/2009 academic year. This is the 2nd consecutive year they were honored for their work in the classroom. To qualify for the award, the varsity team must have a minimum grade point average of 3.25 for the entire academic year. For the season, the boys finished with a grade point average of 3.40.

Emmaus was one of just 68 high schools in the nation, and four in Pennsylvania, to have both its boys and girls teams honored in such a fashion. Further, no other boys team in District XI won the award this year. In fact, Emmaus is the only District XI high school honored by the NSCAA for academics in the past six years. For this year, Emmaus is one of just 18 teams honored in Pennsylvania.

Hornets Hold Clinic for Local Youth

Ninety-seven boys ages 7-14 from the local area came to Memorial Field for a chance to work with and learn from the current group of players from Emmaus on Wednesday, September 19th.

2009 Emmaus Green Hornet Soccer Team

Hornets Win NSCAA Academic Award

The Emmaus boys soccer team has been named a recipient of the 2008 National Soccer Coaches Association of America Team Academic Award for the 2007/2008 year. To qualify, the team must have a minimum grade point average of 3.25 for the entire academic year. The 2007 boys team held a GPA of 3.44. This is the first time in the history of the program that Emmaus has won the award.

Emmaus was one of just 55 high schools in the nation, and five in Pennsylvania, to have both its boys and girls teams honored in such a fashion. Further, no other boys or girls teams in District XI won the award this year. In fact, Emmaus is the only District XI high school honored by the NSCAA for academics in the past five years.

2008 Lehigh Valley Conference Champions



The Emmaus boys' soccer team celebrates the 2008 Lehigh Valley Conference Championship following their 2-0 victory over Freedom on October 16, 2008 at Zephyr Stadium in Whitehall. John Sokol hit a one timer in the first half to put us in the lead, followed by an Eric Lind penalty Kick in the second half to seal the victory. The Hornets have won four consecutive LVC titles and 13 league championships in their existence.

The Hornets captured their third consecutive Lehigh Valley Conference Championship followings its 2-1 win over Liberty on October 18th. The victory give the Hornets twelve league titles in their 40 year history.

2006 DISTRICT XI CLASS AAA CHAMPIONS!

The Hornets captured their third consecutive District XI Boys's Soccer Championship (and twelveth overall) this past fall with a 4-1 win over the Allen High School Canaries.
